Making the decision

So here’s where it starts…

WHY

I’ve had some time recently to reflect on areas of me and my life that could do with looking at.

I’m not a “runner” I’m not particularly fit and my BMI could certainly do with decreasing!

I’m single after separating from my husband 2 years ago, I have a terrible habit of drinking too much wine too often! I have a job I absolutely love and I think I’m not too bad at but at which I could do so much better and I am often found spending too much money on silly things!

I also want to do something worthwhile with my life – I realised that I’m probably not going to have the opportunity to have a family so I want to make a difference in another way.

So I took a look at my life and it was screamingly obvious that some things have to change and no-one else is going to change them for me!

HOW

I have already done a couple of runs after starting “running” about 18 months ago, the last of which was the Leeds Abbey Dash – a flat 10kms that I did in 1 hour 16 minutes.

I had also decided to do the London Winter Run, a 10km race through central London for CRUK which takes place at the end of January.

This is where I made possibly the craziest decision of my life to date…

I am going to run 100 competitive kilometres during the course of 2016 and I’m going to be doing it for a charity very close to my heart.

THE BLOG

This blog is going to be a diary of where I have come from and how my runs / training and achievements are going.

I aim to use this to remind me of what I am doing and why as well as being an inspiration to others who may be going through tough times.

I want to show how normal people can achieve their dreams with the aid of willpower and motivation.

I will welcome anyone else who would like to join any of the runs with me or who wants to suggest runs I can do throughout the year.

RUNS

My first 10k is the Winter Run in London on 31st January and I will update the blog once I’ve looked at the year and worked out the other 90 kms!

CHARITY

I am planning to raise as much money as I can for the Cats Protection – I will update the blog once I have been in contact with the charity to find out the best way of doing this.

THE NEXT STEPS

I now need to get a training schedule in place, sponsorship, some kind of media coverage if possible, lots of support from my wonderful family and friends and the willpower, determination and motivation to succeed.
